Many thanks to Ian at Kendal mountaineering services. I had a great time doing the Cuillin Ridge on the Isle of Skye in May 2016. Despite my lack of experience at this level I never felt less than confident with Ian in charge.

The cottage we stayed at in Fiskavaig was the perfect place to relax after a hard days walking.

I've just spent an amazing week in Slovenia experiencing a range of walking routes in the beautiful Julian Alps with Iain and colleagues. Iain is very experienced and knowledgeable and tailored the routes and distances to suit individual interests and capabilities. Each day was different and Iain's knowledge of the area, including sites of historical significance, was a real asset. There was a chance to experience a range of other activities, including zip-wires across gorges and paragliding from the mountains on the 'rest' day! Accommodation was first class - freshly made bread and generous packed lunches provided by Matt who has spent several years in this beautiful, unspoilt country and provided a real home from home, as well as chauffeuring us to and from the walking start and finish points. In summary: a wonderful week with an expert guide and instructor, made special by the excellence of the hospitality.

I've just returned from a week-long guided walking holiday in Slovenia, led by Iain. Whilst I knew the scenery was likely to be impressive, it certainly exceeded my expectations, a really beautiful place. The holiday was group who had not met before, but got on very well – with a different walk and pace each day. Iain was very flexible, adapting to the needs of the group and the weather conditions. A very good week was had by all!

Our second time out with Iain teaching myself and my mate Sean climbing. After a introductory half day last time, we had so much fun it wasn’t long before we booked our trip back and Iain suggested a multi-pitch climb.

Excellent day, Iain’s experience really shows through all of his teaching and the half day lesson was spot on. Would highly recommend anyone wanting to try out climbing or any of the other activities to give Iain a call!!

I asked Iain for some guidance with scrambling instruction so that I could more confidently take my kids scrambling.

We spent a wet day going over some basic skills and through a combination of patience and skill Iain got me working really well. It was cold and wet but I loved it.

The second day Iain took me scrambling. We managed through the rain and then the sunshine to consolidate he skills I learned on the first day. Again Iain showed patience (much needed) and lots of skill to get us up some super scrambles.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Iain and recommend whole heartedly the services of Kendal Mountaineering Services to any one who would like to learn the joys of being in the hills, even in the rain and the wind.

It was such an AMAZING experience we had with you on Sunday. Lauren & I were truly delighted with our choice of tours. You and your concern for our safety and fun made it simply wonderful. I certainly appreciated the fact that you noticed how tired I was becoming and allowed me to slow up and make the “safe” choices without making me feel like a complete chicken!! You are certain to see Lauren back there this summer as she has been talking about it ever since! If you are considering learning to Ghyll Scramble/Canyoning…I truly & sincerely recommend Kendal Mountaineering to everyone! And don’t worry…Iain will be sure you have a wonderful time while also ensuring your total safety!!! I am 45 and not in that great of shape but Iain made me feel comfortable and confident in my abilities. I did things I never thought I could do and felt like a true champion thanks to his skillful leadership!
